What do you guys think so far about Siddhartha's journey? Is he accomplishing his goal? What do you guys think about him overall.

  1. I think Siddhartha is lost. He knows what he wants but he cannot have it. I'm thinking he might accomplish his goal once he finds out he has a child. He wants to love like any other being so I think seeing his child will allow him to accomplish his goal.

  2. He's changed a lot since his Samana days and he does seem more childlike but he has lost himself as Michaela said. I also think that since he's going back to his materialistic ways he's become more self centered and he's forgotten what his goals are or were.

  3. i agree with both of you that he has lost himself because he knows what he wants but does not have a clear plan of how to achieve his goals. He goes from one approach to another and even goes against having materialistic things in which he wanted to get rid off to find himself.

  4. I agree that Siddhartha did lose his way and fell into the materialistic world. As we've read, this only caused him to fall into an aimless lifestyle which depressed him and nearly drove him to suicide. However, after his near-drowning, his perspective has changed and he is once again on the path to happiness and self-discovery. I am hopeful that he will finally achieve his goals.

  5. I believe a loss of purpose and character will strengthen a character once realigned and gotten back on track. Though it does risk not returning the benefit is a stronger belief in ones self and belief which is what is occurring to Siddhartha.
