Some stuff
Well in the few chapters we were supposed to read we were hit with a lot of stuff! Kamala comes back into the story with Siddharthas son only to die and leaving Siddhartha with his son. I want to believe Kamalas death has some significance but I'm not sure how maybe someone knows!? I thought it was pretty sad how Siddhartha and his son split paths I'm sure that has caused Siddhartha a lot of pain. What I found interesting about the departure though is that Siddhartha realizes the pain he caused his father when he left while simontanously realizing he attempted to do what his father did to him by pushing his way of living on his own son. Siddhartha also realizes the love his father must have had to truly let him go on his own path which he must follow now as well with his son.

The death of Kamala on the same death bed as the ferryman's wife was to me symbolic and sad. I agree with what you said about the pain that Siddhartha is going through. And yet I feel an empathy towards him but then again I feel like he would feel a disconnection towards his own son.
ReplyDeleteYou say is symbolic to you but how? I thought it was something signifance but I don't quite know
DeleteI feel that Kamala's death may end up being significant; after all, she's the closest thing to a love interest this novel has so far, and the significant death of a love interest is a common literary trope. I hope Siddhartha's son makes another appearance, perhaps once he's older and has become wiser.
ReplyDeleteDammit Siddharthas son never came back nor did Siddhartha teach his father of bliss.
DeleteI believe the scene about his sons departure is a demonstration on reflection and it humbles him. As for Kamala I believe the death is a symbol of past burden. Though reminded of his acts the embodiment of his sinful has left him :both kamala and his son. this is also supported by the return to mediatation afterwards demonstrating a sense of release and revival.
DeleteHow is Kamala a burden? She wasn't in the picture or in Siddhartha's thoughts after he left.
