Transcendentalism in Mr.Herman's Siddartha
So far as we read Siddartha, I feel like the story sucks the reader into the main character. Like Henry David Thoreau and other great transcendentalists, Hermann causes us (or me anyway) to look at our lives and compare it to siddartha's, which inspires us (or just me) to want to change our lives in accordance to the life of Siddartha: to find our true self.

How does siddartha have this affect on you? What exactly is causing this?
ReplyDeleteI agree with you in this because when we were learning about transcendentalism it inspired me to think a different way about life and approach and different way to look at life. Siddhartha is also doing the same because he using nature to find himself and the world around him too.
ReplyDeleteWell Julio,Siddartha thus far is like the ultimate transcendentalist; he is the embodiment of what many people, including me, aspire to achieve, but have become so caught up in the world that Siddartha speaks against, that we can't get out. Siddartha to me, is like Neo from The Matrix. He was able to get out of the matrix, and see the world for what is really is. That inspires me. What are your thoughts Julio?
ReplyDeleteBut thus far Siddartha isn't out of the "matrix" that is around him he is still unfulfilled.
DeleteYes, and though he indulged in the materialistic world, part of him was still able to see past it in a way.
