The difference between Hamlet and Macbeth.

As we continue to read Macbeth one can start to see the difference between the two male characters. Hamlet was more misogynistic, he seemed to dislike women. One can see this with the way he reacted to his mother saying that a lioness would be more considerate of her dead lover. However, at the other end of the spectrum, Macbeth seems to need acceptance from his counter part. This can be seen through his actions, where he does any thing that she says. All in all, one can see the difference between Hamlet and Macbeth Hamlet does not need as much acceptance from women as Macbeth does.

  1. I somewhat agree to what you're saying but you are comparing a relationship with one's mother to the relationship the other has with his wife. You have to remember the situations that Hamlet and Macbeth were both in and the women they were dealing with. Hamlet felt betrayed by his mother who he seemed to hold on a high pedastil until she quickly got over her late husband's death and curtly married his brother... because she was dependent; while the other called the shots and really didn't need Macbeth to survive(in the beginning) she was more independent and relitively empowered.

  2. Also,Hamlet was not a masogynist. He didn't hate women, he was angry because his mother betrayed he and his father, and the love of his life did as well with the wire, && because she knew about the affair. Wouldn't you be?
And toward your comment about Macbeth, he did not "need" acceptance from Lady Macbeth; he single-handedly made the decision to kill Banquo, his best friend, ON HIS OWN. That was out of greed and his own will.
