Mcbeth

I am a bit frighten how a women such as Lady Macbeth can be a cold hearted person. I find it a bit cruel how she can breast feed a newborn and then murder it in that same instant.

  1. I get what you mean! I think she's just putting up a "front" to make it seem that she's tough. We read yesterday that she said she could kill a baby, but she couldn't kill king Duncan some he looked too much like her father

    1. Yes, I agree with you Zion. I think she is just trying to act tough. Maybe she wants to display this behavior to her husband so that he does not see how weak she is.

    2. Same here ! Like we read she says that she regrets her actions but once Macbeth walks in the room she puts her front again.

  2. I agree! I feel like everyone can relate to lady macbeth in this way though. Everyone acts a certain way around different people. We want to present ourselves and be perceived differently by others. Lady Macbeth was putting on this front so that she wouldn't be seen as weak in order to convince or "bully" her husband into killing the king.

  3. I'm just curious to how she would get her power if Macbeth was to be king?

  4. I agree with you guys. When I compare myself to Lady Macbeth, I guess I can relate to her in some way. I too act differently around the people I am surrounded with. For example, when I am in the class with you guys, I tend to be a lot more quite;however, when I am with my friends there is a whole other side of me that you guys probably would no expect Can any of you relate?

  5. I wonder if this motif of a double-personality is evident in any other of Shakespeare's works?

  6. I think that Lady Macbeth trying to maintain her facade of cruelty in order to not simply because she doesn't want to be viewed as weak, but I'd say that her imposing attitude helps calm Macbeth's indecisiveness. If she wasn't there to motivate him, I doubt that he would have been able to climb to the top at any cost. While it's true that in the moment Lady Macbeth flaked out on killing Duncan, she is the person who drives Macbeth to do what she feels he must.

  7. I believe she does this because she first did want to become queen but she thought about what her words resulted in her and Macbeth , maybe guilt and paranoia, and wanted to take it back. However since the act was already committed she kept on acting like a villain.

  8. I know that in different cultures things are seen differently. Like for example with Hammurabi's code, about an "eye for an eye" we see it as being cruel but it's a different era different lifestyle. I'm not saying killing is okay but we have different perspectives although it is very cruel what she did.
