Brave New World Motifs
I was wondering what motifs did you guys write about in the essay? I'm curious to what other motifs you guys thought of. I wrote about sex and what it means to their society. It was centered around how Brave New World has the opposite moral standpoint to us when it comes to relationships, families, and sex itself; the book shows how attachment, polygamy, and parents are something looked down upon.

I also wrote about sex because it was the nost prevalent image that kept being portrayed throughout.
ReplyDeleteI wrote about how Ford is their unique kind of religion and how their beliefs influences traditional values such as family, relationships, and ones own identity.
ReplyDeleteI wrote about how we see their values as unusual, while they see ours the same way.
ReplyDeleteI wrote about sex too
ReplyDeleteMaythe, I wanted to write about Ford too because it was something that really caught my attention. However, I felt I didn't have enough information on them. Sex was a rather easy topic to write of so I see how most of us picked it.
ReplyDeleteWhat I found interesting was how John who lives among the "savages" had more human morality and passion as seen in the quote "violently,,desperately and hopelessly". The pother society has lost all human intimacy

Denise, is Brave New World really so opposite from us? Then what is Huxley's point?
