Hey guys, if any of you are looking for works are parallel to Faulkner's Light In August, try Richard Wright's Native Son. It's a very good book, and I recommend that everyone reads it. James Baldwin is also a good author to compare with Faulkner.
That's a good idea. I haven't read Native Son but I heard plenty about it, and I can definitely see the similarities between the tragedy both Christmas and Native Son's protagonist share.
Was the Native Son protagonist enjoying any of the bad things he did? Maybe it was bittersweet pride?
Well, he enjoyed raping his girlfriend, but then killed her. Other her than that, Bigger doesn't necessarily have anything to be prideful about , and thus lacks any form of pride. He's just trying to survive.

ReplyDeleteWow... Okay then. Dually noted.
ReplyDeleteLol. It's better just to read the book, and not hear anyone's view on it until after you read it
