The quotes you memorized...

...what do you think of them?

I actually had fun with that assignment and looked into quotes that were meaningful to me. My favorite was my quote from The Pearl about happiness in simplicity:

"They had spoken once, but there is no need for speech if it is only a habit anyway. Kino sighed with satisfaction - and that was conversation."

So I was wondering what your favorite quote was and why? I thought it would be interesting to discuss.

  1. Romeo and Juliet – Shakespeare
    Mercutio:
Help me into some house, Benvolio,
Or I shall faint. A plague o’ both your houses!
They have made worms’ meat of me. I have it,
    And soundly too. Your houses!

That was my favorite. I could just imagine seeing an actor swinging from "I'm about to die." to "I damn you all!" so quickly.

Although, I wished I had read a bit more of Prince and the Pauper because that same day I read this awesome quote that I felt portrayed a parents love for a child and their need to defend any flaw they may have.
I can't quite recall and I'm away from my book! I'll have to post it later.

    1. It was, " 'He is mad; but he is my son, and England's heir; and, mad or sane, still shall he reign! And hear ye further, and proclaim it: whoso speaketh of this distemper worketh against the peace and order of these realms, and shall to the gallows!' "

      I love this quote.

  2. My favorite was "Memory believes before knowing remembers. Believes longer than recollects, longer than knowing even wanders." The wording is confusing but I like the theme of the logical fallacies of humanity, and how what we perceive is heavily influenced by emotion.

  4. i gravitated to the quote in Dante's Inferno concerning fate stating "Our fate cannot be taken away from us;it is a gift." I love how its overall simplicity can be contrasted by its complex and intellectual meaning
