Are you a transcendentalist?

How do you guys live your life? By peer pressure, your own choices, or going with the flow? It is simple for us to say that we make our own choices; however, if we take a look around, how many of us actually do things for ourselves and not our friends? The key to being a transcendentalist is to think for yourself while having no boundaries. Maybe boundaries can include family, friends, siblings, or even your enemies. Don't let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do because... is it your lives or theirs? How to you identify yourself as? A transcendentalist or someone who is a follower?

  2. I can connect to Sara because I do try to live my own life, but many people, including family expect you to live a certain way and the pressure can sometimes be too much that in the end, you end up caving in.

  4. The message transcendentalism convey and tries to teach is very powerful as well as important but I feel as if i'm not living my life according to those methods; however, that's because in this generation and with how we live on the daily basis, it is very hard to live as a transcendentalist because we are regularly influenced by our environment.

  5. I feel like I just follow the flow, just do what I suppose to do. Go to school everyday, take classes, take test, study. I never thought about is this really what I want to do or is this what my life should be like. My life had been influenced by my family a lot in the past. It is hard for one to be a true transcendentalist, because there are too many factors in out life that determine our decisions. To me I more living for my family than living for myself, but I think in the future I will have more freedom and living for myself.

  7. I have to agree with Zhu. I also go with the flow, but still follow some of the traditions that were handed down to me from my parents. While I don't wholeheartedly agree with some their ideals, with time they accepted me for who I was. At some point in my life, however, I am bound to make choices that will only impact myself and those around me. I guess I can say that as I grow older I will become more of a transcendentalist due to the reason I previously stated.

  8. I am totally on the side of transcendentalism because I want to live the way that satisfies me. No one even has the right to control others.

  9. I live my life the way i want to, but i do let myself get influenced time to time. I don't consider myself a transcendentalist at the moment, but neither as a follower. I simply carry out my life doing activities my friends par take in so we can talk about it.

  10. I want to be, but in reality I am probably not. I am parts of the things and people I surround myself with. I am not fully myself I get parts of myself from my family, friends, favorite TV shows, and more. I feel like no one is a true transcendentalist today due to that .
