What role would the Puritans way of life play in modern society?

I believe that if the Puritanical lifestyle would still be around today, there would a slight decrease in crimes possibly. Since the rules were so strict, I hardly think anyone would desire to break them risking execution. Although it wouldn't be the desired way of life for many individuals such as I, it's interesting to think of the vast differences such a strict power would lead to. What do you guys think?

  1. I feel like you're basically describing a cult. They believe in a certain set of guidelines and if you don't follow them correctly, then you're punished in a way that would most likely end in death.

  3. This will happen if everyone on this world is Puritan. In the history, the Roman Catholic Church is similar to the Puritans, they have the absolute power over its follower(all Europeans), but there is people like Martin Luther who question the authority of the church and is brave enough to against it. So if the Puritanical lifestyle is still around today, there will be people like Luther, who choose to speak up for the people.
What I said might be off topic, but what I trying to say is that Puritans way of living is unable be accept by all people, especially in modern society it is more unacceptable.
