What Would You Do If You Were Pearl?

Would you accept Dimmesdale as a father? Would you defend Hester from the public? Would you stay with Hester if you knew about her act of adultery? To me, I would accept Dimmesdale as a father because he is one of the few people who treated Pearl as a normal kid. I'm not sure if I would defend Hester against the public, unless if she tells me why people are scolding her. I would also stay with Hester if I knew that she had committed adultery, because it is what created Pearl in the first place.

  1. If I was Pearl I would not have accepted Dimmesdale as my father. Pearl lived her life without a father. He knew Pearl was his daughter, but he never took the time to care and know her. I believe that even if Dimmesdale’s internal suffering was too great, he still should have made an effort to at least be in Pearl’s life.

  2. Its kind of in the middle for me. Part of me would accept Dimmesdale as a father because I would want to experience the feeling of having both of my parents around. On the other hand, I would ignore Dimmesdale's requests because the change would be a difficult one to bear. I personally would stay with Hester because I wouldn't want anyone taking the complete blame for something I took part in. Finally, I would defend Hester as no women or man deserves to go through such intense public shame without anyone to guide or help them.

  3. I agree with Sara. If I was Pearl and Dimmesdale was never apart of my life, then why make an effort to get to know a guy who literally walked out on you.

  4. I agree with Sara too. It's Dimmesdale fault that he can't accept his sin, but Pearl should not be the victim of his fear.

  5. I agree with Jeffrey. As a child I would be conflicted and Pearl has been asking about her father for a long time so if I was Pearl I would proceed with caution into the situation.

  6. According to Stanford Medical, It's in fact the ONLY reason women in this country get to live 10 years more and weigh an average of 42 pounds less than we do.

(By the way, it is not about genetics or some hard exercise and really, EVERYTHING around "HOW" they eat.)

BTW, What I said is "HOW", and not "what"...
