The story starts with this verse of Genesis and how Rachel is unable to give birth to Jacob's children, the quote is like:
"Yo, Jacob, I am infertile, we need new eggs, lets hit up my maid, Bilhah, but just don't catch feelings okay, she's just the side."
-Tamara Gutierrez
(And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die. And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel: and he said, Am I in God's stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb? And she said, Behold my maid Bilhah, go in unto her; and she shall bear upon my knees, that I may also have children by her.) -Genesis 30:1-3

What book is this?
ReplyDeleteI know that story from the bible, it's actually my favorites. I just don't know what your book is called.
ReplyDeleteCould you specify what you're asking? Maybe give a little context?
ReplyDeletekind of confused, can you reword your question again?
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure she is reading The Handmaid's Tale which I believe deals with how women are used solely for reproduction. If i remember correctly, it was Rachel who was infertile which in turn led to Jacob having 2 sons with the maid which reinforces the idea that women were used for reproduction and than forgotten about.
ReplyDeleteI'm confused about what you are trying to ask.
ReplyDeleteMy book is the Handmaid's tale by Margret Atwood( I have a post before talking about the book) My question was Why do you think that the author chose that specific verse from the bible.
