In my last post, I asked about your portrayal of Hell. I find it so interesting that many of you have the same idea and perspective of Hell. Many of which includes fire, torture and burning. Why do you think so many perceive Hell that way?
I agree with Sara, because I come from a religious background and in my family and church we always speak about Hell being wicked. It also states in the bible, Matthew 13:50 and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
I believe it all has to do with how one is taught and how the idea of hell is broadcasted into our daily lives. Films and novels play a huge role in visualizing hell and reinforcing our desire to never go there.
For me, the portrait the hell comes form movie the most. The word "hell" itself have a strong negative connotation, when people hear this word, they automatically think about fire, torture, and burning. I think the common reason for that is religion, which really bulid the idea of hell deep in our thought.
do you perceive as hell that way? it's like a thought, if heaven is beautiful and hell is the opposite of that, wouldn't you think the same?
ReplyDeleteI think religious backgrounds play into part. For example the Christian religionportrays hell as the like of fire.

I believe people commonly perceive hell as a fiery place because of what they learned in church or from others.
ReplyDeleteThat's true but what about those that don't come from religious backgrounds? What if we didn't put religion into play? Would it be the same portrayal?
ReplyDeleteI was honestly taught like that, i didn't perceive it that way on my own.
