ok guys, so here's the thing. It has nothing to do with the course, but it does have to do with me. I tend to procrastinate a lot, and I try my very best to push myself to not do so, so I can accomplish things. Do you guys have any skills that can help me surpass this? So I can use for use now and in the future. I'd appreciate it guys, thx!

Just try to use a planner to plan everything. If you wanna help with the procrastination, plan out the rest of your day and give designated times for your homework. If you get rid of distractions by going into a quiet room, turn off your notifications or even your phone in general, and follow through with the times you chose, it will dramatically help. I been doing this recently and it really helped me get over stress.
ReplyDeleteOkay so phones do seem tempting when doing homework, but here are some tips that I use that might help you!
ReplyDelete1. I use an app called Forest. This is mainly like a timer app that plants little cartoon trees, but there is a catch. When putting the timer, you cannot get on another app or else it will kill the tree. You get points for the amount of time you stay on task. Also, this app is really great because with those points you can plant real trees in the world! That's why I use it because not only am I not getting on my phone but also, I am helping the global community.
2. Also, make yourself a list of why you want to do things! Remind your self why you are working hard and the goals you want to accomplish. Hopefully, these will motivate you to not procrastinate, because for me when I really want something out of my heart, I just do it! Sometimes you have to sacrifice things, but in the end, it is all worth it!
3. I know this won't work for everyone, but when I go home I write down each task on a sticky note. Next to it, I write the time I think I will take for each task and use the Forest app to help me stay on track; thus, I am getting things done and not on my phone. This way, I organize my afternoon so that way I have some extra time for myself. Also, during tasks I get a 5- 10 min break, depending on how much I stayed on task.
Hopefully these tips will work for you! I also agree with Sara in using a planner! Happy studying!
To be honest, I usually just plan ahead without writing any agendas or setting alarms. To keep it simple, I relax first then I start working. This is really hard for me to explain since I almost never procrastinate but the point is, plan ahead of time and give yourself a limit to how long you can relax.
ReplyDeleteWrite what you need to do down on a sticky note and then place it wherever you go most. Also, don't give in. When your mind tells you that you can do it later, force yourself into doing the work now. Know your limit. Your brain can only focus for a certain amount of time. So when you start to wander off into another world, set a timer for 5 minutes, get up and stretch. Drink some water and eat a healthy snack. Keep distracting items as far away and as quiet as you can. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely make flash cards, flash cards help me tremendously and benefit my grade alot. They're also easy to take around for long car rides or boring shopping trips your mom makes you go with her too.
ReplyDeleteI usually write everything on a planner as well to stay organized too, but something that always helps me so I won't procrastinate is I will usually do an assignment that is hard or a subject that I really don't like just to get it out of the way and then move on to assignments that are easy to kind of motivate myself into finishing my homework/things.Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the same boat as I tend to procrastinate a lot, but it has dialed down a lot ever since I started turning off any tech that will distract me and work outside. Working outside, while it's not hot, feels more relaxing and peaceful which aids having a clear and focused mindset resulting in work with quality. Just constantly remind yourself what you wish to achieve in life and let that push you to strive to become a more focused student.
ReplyDeletehave you guys ever thought of like going to eat or to get coffee but with someone who is learning the same as you? or also has homework to do? Many say that helps a lot, but I haven't tried it actually. Thank you guys for helping me out! I appreciate what you guys said. Much love to my little AP class
ReplyDeletePlanner can help if you will use it often, it never worked for me. Set goals for yourself each day, like how many pages to read, what homework need to be done, etc.. It's AP class, it's normal to feel some pressure, keep working and just relax when you need to.
ReplyDeleteI encourage you to distance yourself from any distractions, either living or nonliving, that may interfere with what you are trying to do. Find an isolated place that is quiet, comfortable, and calming where you can work without being interrupted. I don't suggest that you do everything in your room, since it may just distract you even further.
