Hello, everyone!
I was wondering how the author of your novel decided to introduce you to the characters. What first impressions do you have of them? Any questions about your characters?
For example, in my book, Lolita, the narrator starts off by introducing her in various manners. We get to know about his background and his past; moreover, he describes Lolita and how they met. A question that I want to know the answer to is: why is Lolita with an older man? She is just a little girl. Anyways, the narrator seems a little unreliable to me and I dislike him a little. I feel like he is desperate to be with someone, but in order to find out the entire story, I need to read more. So far, the introduction of Lolita is not so bad!
Please feel free to express your opinions about your novel's characters or any other interesting things!

The author of my novel, "Native Son," introduced the characters by explaining that they are black and living during the 30's, their situation with money, and the interaction between them. For instance, the book started off in a one room apartment and a family is just waking up. Then a rat suddenly appeared in the room and everyone decided to go after it. Drawing from these details, my first impression is that the family has a big issue with money and that the world treated them poorly because of their race.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tommy for sharing! Your book sounds interesting, hopefully you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteStill waiting for my book, but I will come back to the post once I can answer.
ReplyDeleteSame Jeffery, I am waiting for mine to be delivered as well. I wish everyone else best of luck when reading!
ReplyDeleteI am also reading Lolita too! I do feel like the author is lacking some information about Lolita and her reasons on why she rather an older man, actually he shouldn't even have the title of a "man" he is definitely an animal, a pedophile. Going back to the subject, I definitely feel like the author gave us a good intro and I'm eager to keep reading and watching this novel spiral! hopefully in a better direction.
ReplyDeleteThe author for the play, No exit, made the characters seemed clueless as they enter their interpretation of Hell. I thought that the characters were really relatable because they're so focused on the littlest things like bathrooms and toothbrushes, rather than how will they be living.
ReplyDeleteFor my character, author describe him as a young men have mental problem(hypochondria), who live at the garret that offered by the landlady.
ReplyDeleteWith my book, "The Grapes of Wrath", the author, John Steinbeck has chosen an unique way to introduce the characters to the audience. So far, I have noticed that I learn about new characters through dialogues. I understand a lot about a character after an interaction between that character and another. Sometimes he switches it up by giving a background information about a character or sometimes he just dives in and gives a full description of a character. I find his techniques interesting because every time it's different and the way he introduces new characters makes the story more compulsive for me. My first impression of the characters is that, they are all different in their own ways and they are really boring. I'm not really sure what it is, maybe it's the plot, but the characters introduced so far have nothing interesting about them and it's like they're all living a very depressing life. I question if
ReplyDeleteThe author in my book so far introduced my character through describing the setting. What I mean by that is the author describes the living conditions and upgrades to life in the perspective of the character. I barely started my book so I don't know specifics in regards to things like the characters name.
