The Subject of English
Hey everyone! I want to know how everyone feels about the subject of English. This is personally my WORST subject because I am someone who prefers to apply the knowledge of a concept rather than to explain it. Let me give an example. In math, I am applying the steps I know to get the right answer, where as in English, I have the hardest time expressing my thoughts into words because there is a plethora of ways to say what is in my mind and yet, there is only one way to say it to satisfy teachers. (Not that teachers are jerks of coarse, but speaking formally helps us with job interviews or other activities) What are your thoughts on English classes?

I agree with English being one of my worst subjects, however you also have to realise that English and math are two separate subjects. As a result, you have to apply different strategies in order to achieve to best outcome. Additionally, the difference between the two subjects is that in math there will always be a definite answer. English, on the other hand, is open to interpretation which can lead to more than one answers.
ReplyDeleteWith me, I feel like I've always done better in English. Here's why, usually in our English classes we have opportunities to think out side of the box and give our own answer and like keven said not a definite answer, an answer that comes from our own minds and our own point of views. In contrast, with math it's always one answer and it's either correct or incorrect no in
ReplyDeletebetween. That's what I personally feel about the subjects. That was a good question Tommy!
Hello Tommy, thank you for sharing! I feel like the subject of English is interesting as well as any other subject. I truly enjoy reading; therefore, the subject itself makes it a little easier to survive! Although explaining things outloud makes me feel very uncomfortable, a way I overcome it is by saying it to myself a lot of times!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Sonia!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way as you, Tommy. I am more a math person. I prefer question that only I one answer. For English, base on the point of view, time period, the answer can be varied.
ReplyDeleteFor me personally, English is one of my stronger classes and I quite like the fact that one question can have multiple answers. I love reading, though I never have much time to, and I like discussing the similar or opposing viewpoints of my classmates and their thoughts on the activities or readings we do.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone, I feel that english was always my best subject.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jaela. I enjoy the discussions we have and how I am able to get different point of views on the text.
ReplyDeleteI certainly do struggle a bit with English but I do prefer it over mathematics any day. Math for me comes way mlre difficult, while English can be understood more. That's just how I function, but glad to see everyone is different. :)
