I noticed that during our discussion, Mrs.Ross brought up the point that may have had some sort of feeling that her baby was going to be still born because her motherly intuition might have kicked in. In my opinion if she had that mindset, maybe that's why during her giving birth she didn't react as dramatically as we thought she would have. What are your thoughts?

I think that it's because of exhaustion that played in too. I mean after all she was malnourished and tired. Motherly instincts would've been a role in it too but I think with being almost a new mom, I'm not quite sure she knew.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I thought Mrs. Ross said she felt it wasn't going to be born because she didn't feel the baby moving inside, motherly instincts, but I may have heard wrong, but I agree with you and Tien, Sara!
ReplyDeleteMaybe because rose was a first time mother, she didn't expect what was happening and didn't have the curiosity because she thought what was happening was completely normal for her and the baby, but it was unfortunately not :(
ReplyDeleteShe possibly already knew about the misfortune of her baby, but maybe not paying mind to the tragedy is her way of coping with it. She clearly wanted the baby as her love for it was described throughout the novel, but she also matured which means that she priortized survival over grieving. There is a time and place for everything and her situation wasn't neither the place or time.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of you too! I think that because she was expecting her first baby she was not properly educated on what her body and baby were going through, and because she was also malnourished, it only made her pregnancy more difficult for her as well.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of you. I think that it's Rose of Sharon first pregnancy, she don't know what to expect. Also, she labor under a difficult condition, maybe from her point of view it's normal to loss her kid.
